“Samfunnsbyggeren” is Norwea’s membership award. It is awarded to a member who has excelled with a particularly positive community involvement, for example through social or environmental sustainability. The prize is newly created and was awarded for the first time this year.
Erik Mortensen, general manager of Midtfjellet Vindpark, received the award together with Gunnhild Lothe and Lars Helge Landa. In his speech, Mortensen thanked the residents of Fitjar, landowners, the municipality, the business community, Fitjar sports and culture house, Stord and Fitjar tourist association.
In the justification, Norwea writes:
«Samfunnsbyggeren 2022 goes to Midtfjellet Wind Farm for its many years of work for outdoor life and activities in and around the facility.
At Midtfjellet, past and future meet in a spectacular way. The landscape is wild and beautiful, at the same time as it houses the production of clean and renewable energy.
The wind farm is a popular destination: cycling, downhill skiing, skiing, fishing and family trips. The surroundings with the fantastic turbines make the whole experience unique and special.
Since the start in 2011, about 17,000 have been on a guided tour of the area. There have been people from nursing homes, kindergartens, schools, universities and other institutions, as well as companies and politicians.
Congratulations to Midtfjellet Vindpark, all employees in the company and partners who have contributed to the success! »
