We utilise nature, but we only borow it
I Norway, we have been very fortunate with our beautiful natural landscapes, deep fjords and high mountains. Enjoying the great outdoors is a hugely important part of the Norwegian way of life. At Midtfjellet, we have opened up extensive mountainous areas to people who did not formerly have the opportunity to enjoy the Fitjar mountains. We want more people to use the natural environment but, at the same time, we want to be able to pass it on in at least as good a condition to the next generation.

Where the past meets the future
Few places in Norway can claim to experience the past meeting the future in a more spectacular way than at Midtfjellet. It is wild, beautiful and looking to the future. We know that wind parks are a source of debate and strong feeling. At the same time, we know that they produce clean, renewable energy and that they significantly reduce climate emissions compared to the probable alternatives. We also know that the wind park has made the mountains accessible to a large number of new users. People who did not previously have the opportunity to enjoy the mountains around Fitjar can now do so.
Easy access
Excellent road infrastructure eases access to Midtfjellet for hiking, cycling, uphill racing, skiing, fishing and family outings in an area rich in animal and bird life, while the majestic wind turbines make the entire experience wholly unique and special.
Midtfjellet has someting to offer everyone all year round. The whole mountain area is readily available and the benefits of making use of the area are indisputable. Good exercise brings good health. New activities provide new challenges.
We are happy to borrow the Norwegian axiom ‘Ut på tur aldri sur’ – which roughly translates as ‘Good outing, no pouting’ – to illustrate all the possibilities locally available to Fitjar inhabitants. We want to see old and young alike making the most of the mountains every day throughout the year. Rise to the challenge and ask friends and family out into the mountains. Enjoy getting in better shape and obtain unique natural experiences along the way. Hope to be seeing you!
Access
The wind park can now be reached using countless paths from all parts of the municipality. If you wish to use the new main road into the park, turn off RV545 at Rimbareid, about 1.5 km south of the centre of Fitjar. This road is suitable for walkers, the disabled, parents with prams or pushchairs and off-road cyclists. The car park is right by the entrance to the wind park and the ski-trails.
